Solaris Paper, an Australian operated and managed affiliate of Asia Pulp and Paper (APP), distributes high quality toilet and tissue paper products throughout Australia to both Away From Home and Retail markets. Established in Australia in 2007, Solaris Paper has since invested heavily in the Australian market. The Company’s 18,000m2 state of the art converting facility at Greystanes, Sydney, employs 50 people.
Solaris support of the Ten Principles of the UN Global Compact in the areas of Human Rights, Labour, Environment and Anti-Corruption. These principles are reflected in the Company’s overall approach to sustainable development. Solaris is committed to working with like-minded stakeholders, including the UN Global Compact, to continually refine activities and look at new ways to demonstrate social and environmental best practice.
Solaris has a social responsibility to the various communities in which it operates. In Australia, the Company is supporting a range of organisations including Foodbank NSW, local school, business associations and others.
It is the Company’s environmental responsibility to ensure that the raw materials used to make Solaris products come from sustainable sources. The Company’s paper products are certified by the world’s largest certification system, PEFC. This Chain of Custody certification means material can be tracked from forest to the final product and ensures that wood fibre is legal, traceable and from sustainably managed forests.
Solaris shares in the direction of APP’s 2020 Sustainability Roadmap and support its commitment to zero deforestation. In February 2013, Solaris welcomed a landmark announcement by APP to end the clearing of natural forest across its entire supply chain, to allow High Carbon Stock (HCS) and High Conservation Value Forest (HCV) assessments to be carried out.
