Membership fees are generally split into three categories: Large Corporates, Medium Sized Business and Smaller Enterprises. If you are not currently a Signatory to the UNGC you will need to follow step one below.
The UNGCNA Secretariat here in Australia is also able to guide you through the sign up process. If your are already a current Signatory to the UNGC then you can apply for membership directly follow the process outlined in step two below.
Step1: becoming a signatory to the UN Global Compact
Visit the UN Global Compact website for details and online registration: www.unglobalcompact.org. Once there you will be able to select from one of two options. The first is if you are a business organisation wanting to join while the second is if you are a non-business organisation. In both cases you will be able to download a copy of a guide on walking through the sign up process. To access these guides click on the link most relevant to you:
The main item you will need to provide is a letter of committment by the most senior executive in your organisation. Generally this will a Chief Executive, Managing Director, Director of Chairperson of a Board. The letter of committment is to the Secretary-General of the United Nations expressing commitment to (i) the UN Global Compact and its ten principles; (ii) engagement in partnerships to advance broad UN goals; and (iii) the annual submission of a Communication on Progress (COP). Once your application to join has been received, a notification will be sent to the Local Area Network, in this case the UNGCNA, to ask if there is any reason why your application should not be supported. Once this process has been completed, and providing your application has been successful, you will then receive written notification welcoming you as a Signatory.
In your welcome pack you might receive an invitation to contribute the UNGC Foundation and, depending in the size of your organisation, you may receive a request for financial contribution to the UNGC Foundation.
