Following on from the successful inaugural Australian SDGs Summit in September 2016, Australia’s first high-level multi-stakeholder forum to advance national implementation of the SDGs, the Australian Council for International Development, Australian Council of Social Service, Global Compact Network Australia, Sustainable Development Solutions Network Australia/Pacific and United Nations Association of Australia have come together to organise a second Summit in 2018.
The SDGs represent a crucial opportunity for the world to end poverty, protect the planet, and work in partnership to achieve peace and prosperity. The Australian SDGs Summit 2018 will explore ways to unlock the opportunities of the SDGs for all sectors, by taking stock of national progress in SDG implementation, and mapping priorities, opportunities and steps for driving implementation forward.
The Summit will:
- Explore the current state of Australian SDG implementation, including innovative “beyond business as usual” approaches to the SDGs
- Contribute to Australia’s first Voluntary National Review on the 2030 Agenda
- Inspire greater multi-sector action towards the SDGs both domestically and internationally, through the collaborative exploration of priorities, opportunities and practical next steps.
The Summit is strictly invitation only. Registrations have now closed and formal invitations have been issued.
